Welcome

My name is Patrick Machado, I am a fourth year student in The City College Of New York. I am majoring in Architecture in The Bernard and Anne Spitzer School of Architecture in CCNY. After I graduate, my career goal is to create my firm in Ecuador and work in a top Architecture office in New York City. I realize to be a successful architect, I had to be in an actual field with construction and not staying in the office all day looking at my computer. It gives me a different perspective of how crucial it is to support stable structures such as pipelines and the roof. I like to engage and communicate with general contractors as a team and one day my dream is to be a great leader. This field taught me that the outside of the house is the skin and the structure inside of the house is like the skeleton that holds the whole building and house. The skills such as communicating and understanding other perceptions had led me to the reason for taking this course. I strongly believe that this class will guide me to enhance my communicating and leadership skills in the long run.

My main hobbies are to travel, however, it will not likely to happen due to this pandemic, during my winter break I went to Europe for the first time in January. I travel to France, Belgium, and Luxembourg for one month of my travel. My passion is to learn different home styles in all parts of the world and hopefully integrate my own house. I like to see new buildings for the fact that everyone and especially buildings are unique. I do not like to see the same buildings for the reason is that it lacks creativity and inspiration. I constantly want to improve myself such as seeing new places, people, food, and culture. I strongly believe the best way to live a happy life is to travel around the globe. During my difficult times, I only see my perspective and that blocks myself from improving myself. Thanks to my best friend and my college friends I found out that traveling is the best method to heal your mind. Listening and seeing new sights in your journey is the best matter of creating unforgettable memories and a healthy journey throughout your life. In the future, I do not want to be just an architect, I want to explore around the world and learn how can I improve myself. Therefore, I am curious is there a correlation between happiness and traveling. Ever since I travel to different places, I have never felt so awaken for a long time. I hope this class will help me to understand to communicate well my future clients and coworkers. Therefore, I do not want to create a simple square building but more of an abstract public and private space.
